IRS launches tool to help non-filers register for Economic Impact Payments
To help millions of people, the Treasury Department and the IRS launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for Economic Impact Payments for those who don’t normally file a tax return. The non-filer tool provides a free and easy option designed for people who don’t have a return filing obligation, including those with too little income to file. The feature is available only at irs.gov. Click here to go directly to go directly to the tool
You can provide the necessary information to the IRS easily and quickly for no fee through Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info. They will use this information to determine your eligibility and payment amount and send you an Economic Impact Payment. After providing this information you won’t need to take any additional action.
Economic Impact Payments will be distributed automatically to most people starting next week. Eligible taxpayers who filed tax returns for 2019 or 2018 will receive the payment automatically. Automatic payments will also go to those receiving Social Security retirement or disability benefits and Railroad Retirement benefits in the near future.
We encourage people to share this information with family and friends. Some people who normally don’t file a tax return may not realize they’re eligible for an Economic Impact Payment.
